Domed skylights MINILUX

MINILUX type dome skylights are intended for natural light illumination of rooms situated under them and, if additionally equipped with electrical opening mechanisms, perform the natural ventilation function.

The structure of non-openable skylights consists of a dome (the upper part) and base (the lower part).

Dome

By shape, domes are divided into convex, pyramid, and triangle shaped (PMMA) and flat (PC).

Acrylic domes (PMMA) are manufactured in the following modifications: single-, double-, or three-layer, and can be made either matted or transparent (other customised colours are available by separate orders) and solid-cast polycarbonate (characterised by higher resistance to shock). Other layers of the dome are fitted with seals alongside the whole perimeter, which prevent penetration of pollution from outside into the room. Acrylic domes are also manufactured in the HEATSTOP version (such domes reflect infrared rays). Domes are fastened to the frame by means of screws (through distance washers), and hiding caps are placed after installation.

Polycarbonate (PC) domes are manufactured of 10 – 25 mm chambered polycarbonate board and can be made either matted or transparent. A polycarbonate dome consists of the frame and dome. The frame is made of aluminium profiles, and the dome is made of chambered polycarbonate board. The aluminium frame is also protected with seals alongside the whole perimeter, which prevents water from penetrating inside the skylight.

Besides, combined “warm” type domes consisting of a single- or double-layer acrylic (PMMA) dome with an integrated 10 – 25 mm chambered polycarbonate (PC) board can be manufactured according to special orders.

Base
The base of a smoke removal skylight can be made in the following modifications:

a)      Galvanised steel sheet with a thickness of at least 1.25 mm (this type of base should be fitted with an additional insulation layer of mineral wool, polystyrene foam, or another thermal insulating material with a thickness of at least 40 mm). Steel bases are manufactured in the following modifications: oblique (with a height of 350 or 500 mm) or straight (with a height of 350 or 500 mm). If requested by the client, bases with heights of 300 – 750 mm can be manufactured. The thermal conductivity factor of the bases is approximately 1.0 W/m2K (provided that the base is insulated with a 40 mm thick layer of mineral wool).               

b)      Polyester laminate reinforced with glass fibre. Fire retardant polyurethane layer with a thickness of 20 mm is laid between the layers of laminate. Bases are manufactured as oblique (with a height of 150, 300, or 500 mm) or straight (with a height of 150, 300, or 500 mm). The thermal conductivity factor of the bases is approximately 0.95 W/m2K.

It is also possible to manufacture bases with a lower coupling adjusted to corrugated and trapezoidal parameters of roof steel sheets. (Possibility to additionally paint in accordance with the RAL colour palette)        

MINILUX type dome skylights can be used as natural ventilation devices after equipping them with automated (electric 220 V drive) or manual (threaded) opening mechanisms. Dome skylights can also be adjusted for accessing the roof (after additional installation of roof access equipment).

MINILUX type dome skylights are available in various sizes ranging from 600 x 600 mm to as big as 2000 x 3000 mm (with an increment of 100 mm), and round-shaped ones have diameters of 500 mm to 2000 mm.
